Welcome!
![]() Wishing you and your family a happy Independence Day! |
This week, we will gather at parades and picnics across the state to celebrate our nation's independence. This year, as we marvel at fireworks and enjoy the company of friends and family, let's remember the courage and conviction of our nation's founders and the thousands of brave men and women on the frontlines fighting to preserve our freedoms.
Read on for the latest from Lansing and my campaign to be Michigan's next Republican Secretary of State:
Senate and House budget proposals differ by nearly $600 million
While my Senate Republican colleagues and I continue to fight for fiscal restraint in the face of our looming budget crisis, House and Senate Democrats continue to try to spend money we simply don't have. On Friday, the Lansing political newsletter Gongwer reported that the budgets passed by the Republican-controlled Senate and the Democrat-controlled House differed by $585 million. Where is that extra money going to come from? We have to face some hard choices and make some very difficult cuts if Michigan is going to get its financial house in order. New taxes are not the answer, and I stand ready to fight any effort to try and balance our budget by raiding your pocketbook.

Convoy Update
After a marathon session that lasted until the early hours of Friday morning, I was able to spend last weekend catching up on some much-needed family time. I'm back on the trail this week, though. Check out where the convoy has been the last couple days:

June 29 - Kent County GOP Gubernatorial Candidates' Reception, Grand Rapids
June 29 - Birmingham/Bloomfield GOP Meeting, Birmingham
June 30 - SOS Fundraiser, Novi

If you see the convoy on the road, be sure to honk! Better yet, hop aboard. You can always join my campaign at www.michellemcmanus.org.
Best,
